Title: 1978 MC5 swingarm
Post by: marsattacks on November 28, 2020, 02:55:57 PM
While cleaning up some parts etc I Found a 1978 swingarm  + side stand plus chain block.  Nice shape not bent.  This was on a 1978 MC5-400 and I replaced it with a GS swingarm which is significantly different.

How about $50 + shipping.  If you think that's too much just let me know.  Thanks John

Have a few other related parts nothing to special.  Brake pedal and rod. Air box and filter cage, side plastic, handlebar risers (they increase the height a bit).  Plus some fork springs I'm going to scrap can't imagine they are too useful.

Hey John,
So what is the difference between the MX and XC swingarms for the 78 models?

Bike is long gone but subject to correction here is my recollection:

1.  Center stand fits gs swingarm only.  This I'm certain of.
2.  Arc of swing arm bend is tighter on mc5 I think.
3.  Length of gs is greater I think.
4.  Shock mount points might be different.
5.  Chain block might be different .

I'm sure someone else know way more.

The gs swingarm definitely accommodates a black plastic chain guard.  I don't think it works with the mc5.

Hey John
Is the air box one of the orange ones, but has a opening or removable panel on the side? Might have a interest in the other parts also
Thanks, Bob
PS. If I recall, I am local to you in the Greensburg area.

Hey John,
I posted twice here before and seems to be a problem with the site not updating the post. Have some interest in these parts.
I recall, I believe I am local to you being in the Greensburg area.
Thanks Bob
