Title: DKW parts
Post by: 242 on February 12, 2021, 04:35:33 PM
Anyone in the know as to where I can find DKW front end parts? I'm in need of a set of front shocks and a stem jam nut? Dave

Hi Dave, I think Al Buehner has some DKW parts, not sure what all he has, but hopefully he can help you out. Hope you and yours are well.

Good Morning, I'm guessing your looking for a set of shocks for Earls forks correct. I have a set of Betor forks that came off a 73 DKW hornet if that is what your looking for.

Thanks Jim

The big thing with these shocks is the unusual dimensions, I think. They were quite long and quite small in diameter if I remember from reading about this back in the old VINDURO Yahoo groups days. Some one was able to get a manufacturer to make a run of these back then, but don't remember who. I don't think there is anything that would cross over. truly as rare as chicken lips!
   Type at you later,

You might try giving fellow POG member Eric Jensen a call. He's been working on his DKW 175 project, and the front shocks were his last stumbling block. I talked with him last week and he thought he lined something up in England, but it fell through, so he did some sort of rebuild work himself. Eric's # 541-214-5249. Also a post on Helmut's (Speedy) Facebook group might help, fans of Hercules-Sachs Zundapp.

Thanks but have to put things on hold for now, a hospital trip has slowed me down. something about a-fib plus a lot of snow and water won't come from well any more. looks like I need a Doctor, plumber, and warmer days. Thanks Dave

Maybe a little off topic: Been searching high and low for these decals/graphics for the past 5 years and someone (Jim) finally made some. Asked if he could have an Enduro decal made up as well - and he said no problem.

DKW Apron decals: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Set-2-DKW-125-HORNET-BOONDOCKER-DECALS/143941610498?hash=item218396ac02:g:bscAAOSwj4FgIF4u

Hope you get better soon Dave.

Good news, water working no leaks, fellow up with Doctor tomorrow. Also my man called from machine shop that my Sachs cylinder is bored so can pick it up after Doctor. Hope the people in Texas can get things going, so bad to be without water and heat. Dave

Both my Earls front ends have the Betor shocks Mr. Horwart suggested. If they aren't leaking that's  great! I wish I could post a pic..
