Have a 74.5 jackpiner that came with a E.C. Burt back half modified pipe. The head pipe fits the exhaust manifold but the first mount under the tank does not line up with the mount on the frame. The pipe mount bracket is 5/8" foreword of the frame mount. Are there different pipe mount positions between early Jackpiners and late Jackpiners. Any help on this mystery will be greatly appreciated. Steve

Not sure of placement of different 175 frames, but I would jus use a "L" angle rubber bracket.

Steve,
The short answer to your question is yes – in 74 the bracket for the pipe that is under the tank traveled about ¾" backwards on the frame from where it was on earlier (72/73) bikes. The same is true for 250's.
Ran into the identical problem on an early (401XXXXX) 250 here a few years ago. For that one, I just cut the "L" bracket Ron mentions off the pipe then bolted up the other 2 connection points of the pipe and then tacked and welded the L bracket back on the pipe in the correct position.
I would add that it is my *guess* the position of this bracket changed the same time as the design of that forward bracket on the pipe changed from an L bracket to the dog-legged (2 opposing bends) trellis style bracket.
Thanks,
Kevin
