Title: small rear 100 tire
Post by: Mike Lenz on December 07, 2021, 10:39:45 PM
Im building a 100 and am trying to find a small, light rear tire. I used to get ones that were like 6 or 7 lbs, cant find em.  Really helps on a 100. Any suggestions?

Dunlop started making K990 again in small sizes. I have a set on my six-day. Great soft terrain tires.

Kenda Trackmaster 100/100 x 18.
Sized perfectly if you are racing a 100 or 125.
However...I'll admit I have never weighed one.

Mike,

Check out the Vee VRM109, tread is similar to the original Metzler and is available in 3.50-18.

Thanks,

Kevin

K990 is the lightest I have found at 8.25 lbs.
Kenda Klassic is 9.65
Trackmaster is 11.75
VEE currently makes a VRM 140 and 500 model tire. I have asked for weights on those.

I agree with Mickey the Duro 4.10 x 18 is the best tire for a 100cc bike, especially in muddy situations. I have been using them for years on my 75 Berkshire.

Yea thats the tire I thought I used to run.  However, I thought it was a 3.50...so thats what I have been looking for...unsuccessfully.
I got mine from Bike Bandit.  They do have the 4.10 HF905 tire...but do not have a weight on it.  After finally finding some info from Duro dated 12/19 I found what I believe are their current offerings. The HF905 HF410-18 is apparently no longer made so I cant get a weight on it.

However, they make 3 different small 18 inch, knobbys. HF355 4.10 at 7.5 lbs (which is more like a 325 or 350 in act size), HF313 3.50 at 8.2 lbs, 3.25 at 7.2 lbs, HF311 3.00 at 6.36 and 2.75 at 5.37 lbs! So how small and light do you want to go? Would a 2.75 rear tire on my 100 make it peel out and feel like a 500 with a normal tire?? LOL

OK I think the 905 on bike bandit is actually the 335 cuz they have the 355 listed as a 21 inch tire. Its act the other way around. No 355 front tires on Duro site. They got the numbers switched up I think. So I will order it and report back.
