Title: Airbox seals
Post by: Dennis D on November 18, 2002, 06:21:20 PM
Could someone tell me the approximate thickness and material that the seals on the airbox are (were) on a 72 Piner? Mine has a white tubuler foam. Dennis

I use 3/8" thick storm door foam.  The peel and stick type available at any hardware store!

Dennis:

Try to find the "closed cell" type of foam. Some of the stuff you find in the hardware stores will soak up water and fuel will disolve the glue. I used some gasket material that was for an electrical enclosure. If I can find the package, I'll post the manufacturer's info.

its closed cell and resistant to atuomotive chemicals.

What about correct color? All I have found in the closed cell is black, flat type. I have a test that shows the cover off of the air box and it looks to be white or gray. Dennis
