The next issue of Still....Keeping Track, the Penton Owners Group Newsletter, will be issue 109. Just as with the evolution of the Steel Tank Penton, many changes have come about since that very first issue was created and published by Editor John Borer.
As surely was the case with the arrival of the first Steel Tank Pentons, the anticipation of that first newsletter was off the charts. The excitement of those early days of the POG was incredible as more and more folks found out about the formation of the Group and wanted to join in and get reacquainted with their old riding buddies and find out how old John was doing. Pretty soon those old Pentons were being dragged out of barns and from under porches with the intent of getting them running once again.
Personally, I can remember holding that first newsletter in my hands and thinking that now that we had a newsletter, the POG was for real ! Possibly some of you might enjoy reading that first newsletter and seeing how it all began, it was the summer of 1998........

John Borer helped in getting the ball rolling by printing the first 2 issues. I remember when the 1st issue came out and the excitement that I felt. It was the confirmation that we were up and running.
Newsletters are very important to keep the members informed as to what is going on. For the Penton Owners Group, our "Still Keeping Track" newsletter is vital since our members are spread out all over the USA and a few in some overseas countries and Canada and cannot be at our monthly meetings.
In the Fall 1999 Issue no. 4 was the beginning of the publishing of the meeting minutes starting with the minutes of our June 7, 1999 meeting. I can't remember who brought up the suggestion that we start printing the minutes in the newsletters, however it was a good idea. All of our meetings have been above board and professionally run following the agenda provided at each meeting.
