In a matter of days, thousands of us like minded folks will be gathering at the York, PA Fairgrounds in the EXPO ARENA for what has to be one of the best cures for the wintertime blues and a pocket full of cash needing a new home. Yes indeed, the Potomac Vintage Riders annual SWAP MEET & BIKE SHOW is this Sunday January 11th. and will run from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, the fastest 7 hours you will ever have go by!
The Penton Owners Group's display area will be in its usual location and will be under the capable direction of Lee Buffenmyer, THANK YOU very much Lee! Lee has a fair number of machines already lined up for the POG display, but he said there is still room for a few more bikes. This year's display is open to any and all Pentons including the trials and short track machines and they don't need to be pristine show bikes. Rollers, racers, project bikes and fresh barn finds are all welcome. It is interesting to note that over the years some of biggest draws were the crusty old machines that haven't seen daylight in ages.
One time at a POG display at the International Motorcycle Show in Cleveland there was this big BANG !!!! We all kinda were startled and in short order we realized that one of the tires on a barn-find Penton had exploded. The gent who owned the bike said he had filled the tire pretty darn full of air that morning as it was totally flat, it was just a little above zero outside and when the tire warmed up inside the building the tire pressure increased enough to blow the sidewall out of that old half rotted Hi-Point tire, hence the BANG !!
Anyhow, give Lee a call if you want to talk with him at 717-626-0005 and leave a message if Lee is out in the shop, or, just roll your Penton into the building and look for the POG Eazy-up and join with us for what will surely be a fun and memorable day.
I am sure I speak for one and all when I say THANK YOU to the Potomac Vintage Riders for hosting this incredible event each year. Yes, it is a fund raiser for the PVR, but the PVR is made up of people who work their butts off to put his event on for us and we CAN NOT thank them enough for hosting what is surely the SUPER BOWL of swap meets !
