Title: POG newsletter # 110 is in the works !
Post by: Paul Danik on January 15, 2026, 05:43:35 AM

At the Penton Owners Group's meeting last Thursday, newsletter editor Alan Buehner stated that the next issue of Sill .... Keeping Track is in the works. The upcoming issue is issue No. 110 and the deadline for the issue is January 20th, as that is when Alan will put a wrap on the issue and send it off to the printers.

I am sure that many of you are POG members, and as a member you receive the 4 newsletters that Editor Alan puts out each year. So, just what does a POG newsletter contain you might ask. Well, issue # 109 contained the following, The President's corner, Latest News, AMA Vintage Days 2025 article, Amherst Street Fair Article, John Penton Celebration of Life Article, Motorcycle Restoration part 13 article, Classified Ads, Meeting minutes and the centerfold pages were a collection of photos from the Vintage Days event. As you can see, quite a lot was jammed into the 16 page issue.

What was not in that issue but is in most every issue and will be in issue # 110, is a Member Profile. The Member Profile article lets us get to know more about another member of the POG. Speaking of being a member of the Penton Owners Group, if you are not a member, we sure would love to have you join the Group which will entitle you to the four yearly newsletters, a really cool POG MEMBER decal, and the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to support the POG in its mission, all of that for $ 25.00 per year for USA membership. It does cost the POG a lot to keep the doors open, actually, today the check will be written to pay for our 5 VMD booth spaces, so your help and support is needed and appreciated.

Alan does an incredible job with the newsletters, as surely many of you can attest to. And just as soon as one newsletter is sent out, he begins working on the next one, plus he is the Secretary of the POG. The photo of Alan below was taken right about the time the POG was formed and when Alan first realized he might become the newsletter editor, notice his excitement ! Thanks Alan !

The bad news is that if you are not a POG member you will not get the newsletters, the good news is that there is still time to join-up and get the next newsletter. Just click on the link below and off you will go to the JOIN POG page of the POG website.

Paul, Thanks for the kind words. A lot of time and effort goes into putting one of these newsletters together and it would not be possible without the talented writers and contributors that submit photos and articles.

Newsletter #110 is almost complete. Just need to do some fine tuning to two articles to make everything all fit.

One of the articles is about Emily Schultz, the winner of the 1972 Penton 125 Six Days give-a-way bike. In the article I have included the letter that she wrote to John Penton that won her the bike over 14 other letters that were submitted.

The newsletter is on track to be mailed out near the end of next week. So there is still time to join the POG and start receiving your copy. If you are already a paying member of the POG, double check the due date of your membership to make sure that you are current.
