Title: Interesting Steel Tanker photo.
Post by: Paul Danik on February 18, 2026, 08:19:37 AM
I came across this photo and find it interesting that it has an alloy top end fitted with an early style pipe, possibly built before the later pipes were in production. Given that Mr. Erik Trunkenpolz took time to sit on the bike makes the photo especially cool. I see that the pipe has the chrome stinger endpiece fitted. I have pipes where that chrome stinger is removable and a pickle style silencer fits in its place. As you folks would know, the early cast iron cylinders have a rectangular exhaust port where the alloy cylinders have a round exhaust port.

I see that the tank was apparently chromed before being painted, as the knee areas are chrome, not painted white.

In my opinion, that is one of the prettiest Pentons ever.

I agree. I've looked at this photo several times and it always looks like I think an off road machine should look. I was always in hot water with the art teacher at school. All I wanted to draw were Pentons.
