Title: Shocking story
Post by: Mick Milakovic on May 05, 2003, 10:00:54 AM
This was funny to me.............

My 19-year-old-boy was anxious to ride my freshly restored 1980 390 Husky this weekend, never mind the rain.  The bike started and ran great, but as the rain began to softly fall, his finger tips began to tingle.  As it rained harder, he said the tingle changed to a shock, and moved to his knees when he squeezed the tank (I probably would have quit and chalked it up to arm pump!).  Anyway, he exclaimed there was something "majorly wrong" with my bike.  Ivestigation showed a split spark plug cap, and a quick switch solved problem.

My response?  I'm glad YOU discovered the problem!

thanks, I got a charge out of the story.
Puny aside, I have never heard of that happening before. It seems to me that when I first started riding I rode a bike or two that was well, less than in good shape and some times things like sparkplug caps were less than in good shape and never had such a problem. I never worried about getting a shock but the possiblity of gas coming in contact and causing a fire.
Glad to hear that all came out well. I would hate to see another husky on fire. It was painful when I saw "On any Sunday" the first time.

Been there - done that!
I got caught in a rain storm on my Sportster back in the 80's, and while pulling in my legs to minimize the soaking, I found out my rear cylinder spark plug boot had a split in it. It can really get your attention fast!
