Title: wanted: shocks
Post by: tomale on May 06, 2003, 01:02:59 AM
I am looking for a set of shocks for my MC5 I have a set that work fine but I do not know what they are and I am looking for something that is a little bit longer. It would be great if I could find something in the 14 inch range. I tried dropping my forks a bit to get the bike to corner better and it really helped so I thought that the best way to get the same results without losing any suspension is to use a bit longer shock. I would like something used and something that will look like they belong in the time period. So that I will have no trouble at the races. Any body got something like that, that they wouldn't mind letting go of for a reasonable price?

Depends on what you call resonable.  I highly recommend the Ohlins or the Works performance shocks. Non reseviour type.

Tomale,
Do you still have the reservoir Marzoc's?  If you do but aren't wanting to hang on to them, let me know.  Thanks.

Thanks Dwight, I will check them out. I have done some looking on ebay but nothing yet.
Mike, I lost track of the Marzokes along time ago, sorry.

I have several Bilstein shocks in the length of 14.4 (36cm)inch from the middle of the hole to middle. they were mounted originally on KTM GS models in 1979 to 81.they are top condition, and a pair including springs would be 200$

Thanks Doc, I will keep that in mind.
Did the 79-81  KTM's come with a longer
shocks(14.4)
MY 76 came with 13 1/2 inch shocks

What would it cost to ship them to me here in the Northwest part of the USA.

Go to 14" to 14.5" on replacement.  You will like the way it steers better than with the original length.

Thanks Larry, that was what I was thinking but I was not sure. Nice to know that someone else has done this and it works. I dropped my forks just a bit and wow what a differance. My concern was the 14 1/2 too much... I think you have answered that for me, thanks.
Happy trails
