Title: Bing Carb Cleaning
Post by: desmond197 on July 09, 2003, 08:40:11 PM
I am restoring a Bing 27 MM type 53 carb for a 125. Does any one have a sugestion for cleaning the vent tube to the float bowl. There is a blockage in the upper carb body near the choke. I have tryed to get a guitar string around the bend with no luck. Thanks

Try one of the wires that come in a tip cleaning kit for a welding torch. The kit (or tool) is cheap and have some very small but stiff wires in them. Dennis

I soak the disassembled carb in "gunk" carb cleaner for a few days and if the bowl port is plugged, use aircraft safety wire and air pressure to clean it out!

Soaking usually works but if not you can remove the gallery(lead or brass) plug and clear it out and reseal with solder or epoxy.
