Title: KTM vs. Penton
Post by: SoCal996 on July 13, 2003, 11:22:45 AM
Hello fellow Penton fans,

There is a 1977 KTM MC5 on ebay now. Not nearly as nice as Larry's old bike or one that sold a few months earlier.

Is there any difference between the Penton and KTM other than the names?

How is parts availability for that year/models.

Thanks,
Brian

Ah, you must be from California.
Everyone knows although the bikes rolled off the assembly line at same time , that the ones with PENTON stickers were much better and more reliable bikes than the ones with KTM stickers.
Of course this might just be a Easterners opinion.

KTM built all Pentons and when Penton sold out to KTM, KTM then started to import the bikes with the KTM Name the same as the present.

Thanks Guys, sounds like I'd better hold out for one with Penton on the tank. :)

With a little paint and decals they can all be PENTONS.

Dennis,
They are all really Pentons anyway! Even the new bikes today wouldn't be what they are if it weren't for John Penton. We'd all be riding Bultacos or something.

Yes, My "New PENTON" 525EXC has gotten quite a lot of interest at the Nat'l Enduros.
