Title: Rear fender bracket needed
Post by: Steve Minor on July 22, 2003, 09:44:19 AM
Hey guys....I need a rear fender bracket #51.08.085.00 for my 77 gs6....(it sorta' looks like a electrical conduit strap). I've tried Al and he doesn't have one.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Steve,
The metal strap is exactly like a conduit strap. The hard part is the rubber liner for it that goes around the frame, & the piece that goes under the fender.

Try McMaster-Carr Cat.109.Supports and Straps,pg.1293. Various sizes listed with inserts,approx.$2/$3 bucks.

Steve,
would fuel line or a mud flap work to make the rubber parts up?
another option could be the plastic stuff you can get to add rubber coating to the handles on pliers and such.  it comes in a can or spray bomb and could be used with a mold to make up lots of odd shapes. a mold could be made from plaster of paris. coat the inside with furniture wax. the kind you get in a tin for a release agent.
Did you find a wire diagram for your bike?

Yeah...I'm sure I can come up with something close. Thanks all.

John Durrill.....I see you and Peter are going to the ISDT-RR. It will be nice to finally meet you. See you there.

I use the 2 hole conduit strap.  A "Dead On" replacement.  Call Al or Larry for the rubber or use the hose idea.
