Title: plug wire length
Post by: Steve Minor on July 22, 2003, 03:04:13 PM
Is there a way to lengthen (or replace)the plug wire coming from the coil? Mine is usable, but seems to be a bit short. I suppose I could move the coil closer to the cylinder head with a bracket or plate of some sort.

This is for my 77 gs6.

Steve,
Are you using the rubber mount for the coil? If not, that may make the difference.

No Randy...it's bolted directly to the frame, on a bracket under the tank.

I've never seen a rubber mount for this coil. I'm sure it didn't come with one as I bought this bike new in 77.

Steve,
There were quite a few of those brackets that broke off so they mounted the coil on a rubber bracket that mounted to the metal one on the frame. That would lower your coil some, give you extra wire, & may protect your frame bracket as well.

Randy....I remember seeing those. It had a ground strap to the frame, right?

I'll try to come up with one....or fabricate one.

Thanks!
Steve

Yes, don't forget the ground strap.
Good Luck
