Title: Bing idle screw
Post by: Mick Milakovic on July 29, 2003, 12:34:09 PM
The threads on my Bing carb body are stripped out.  Is there an effective way of fixing this?

I have fixed worn out threads with a Loc-tite product. I can't remember the name but it is a two part epoxy and arelwase agent. You mix the epoxy and put it in the hole, smooshing it into the threads, put the release agent on the threads of the screw and screw it in. Five minutes later you screw it out and in an hour or so it's ready to go. You would have to be careful that the expoxy doesn't completely close the hole behind the screw since it is so small. I have used this to repair the bolt holes in the air box.

Mick & Teddy,
The Loctite product that Teddy is talking about is called Form-A-Thread. I have never tried it but plan to soon.
