Title: carbs 101
Post by: Steve Minor on August 13, 2003, 01:43:56 PM
Could someone please comment on the following carb (38 Bing) settings....

Main jet= 185-190
Pilot jet= 35
Needle jet= 285
Needle position= 2 (middle)

I took them from the manual and I want to make sure it's right when I crank my 400gs6 for the first time since the rebuild.

I think most Bing carbed bikes benefit from one size smaller needle jet.  I believe the 283 will give a little better low end performance.

Make sure the main jet is relatively new.  Over time the needle may make the main into an oval shape making it run richer.
