Title: Mc5 intake manifold
Post by: tomale on August 19, 2003, 11:12:34 AM
I am in the process of adapting my 250 Mc5 to use a mukuni carb. I do not want to mess with the stock manifold so I want to find another that I can modify. I need to cut some off the flange were the bing slipped on so that the mikuni does not go too far into the Airbox. I could make it work but I think that it would be too hard on the rubber boot that goes between the carb and the airbox. If someone has a manifold already set up for a mikuni that would be great. You can email me or I will check this message board in a day or so.
Thanks for all the help guys

I forgot, the part number is 54.30.150.300
The manifold is different than the older bikes. It angles to the right side of the engine to allow better alignment with the newer MC5 style of airbox.

Thom......check this one out from eBay. Seller says it's off a 78 250 MC5. Maybe it will work.

Thom.
we built 2 manifolds for athe 175 like you are talking about. i can send you a pic of the materials we used if it would help. we used a sheetmetal hole saw and drill press . had the added peace welded on the manifold.
then used a dremel to match the intake . shaped the outside to blend to the intake manifold and sand blasted the whole thing when we were done. it looks like a factory part.

Thom.
here is a short cut to the picture.
you need to get the angle right to line up with the airboot and clear the pipe and engine cases.
we used a mikuni mount and have a picture with a list of mikuni manifolds that are available in the photo folder in the library at the yahoo site.
