I've a rim and have no idea to which bike it could belong. I took it down from a rear wheel from a 420/80. But the spoke pattern didn't fit exactly the holes in the rim. The manufacturing date is June 1977, dimensions are 18" x 2.75", production code is 988004 B, and it's a 40-hole rim. Any suggestions?

I had a NOS Sun rim and laced to a 40 spoke conical hub using NOS spokes.  The nipple holes weren't large enough to get the correct angle for the spoke.  Drill the nipple holes out to a larger size and it should work fine.  It won't take a much larger hole to make it work correctly.
