Title: 400 top on a 250 bottom end
Post by: vmx1963 on October 16, 2003, 08:19:44 AM
I've heard that the 1974 400 engine is virtually the same as the 250 except for the top end, does that mean you can mate a 400 crank, piston, cylinder & head to a 250 bottom end?  Just one of the things that goes through my mind when I can't sleep!!

Greetings to you down under!

I had heard that the engines were virtually identical, so I tried to fit a 400 top end on a 250 bottom and found the studs are not in the same position, nor is the stroke the same.  Good question, though.

Welcome to POG.

Thanks Glenn, as we say down here "bugga"... I was hoping to make a 400 somehow.
