Title: ignition points
Post by: KCINC1 on March 22, 2001, 02:57:05 PM
Can I still get points for my 1973 penton 125? Will other modern electronic ignitions fit my bike? thanks
KC

Wow, I thought the Sachs motors had a Motoplat by 73. Check with Al or Larry for a points set. I have the old Bosche points ignition on mine and seems to still work.

The model number tag on your motor should read:
1251/6a  points ignition
1251/6b  Motoplat electronic ignition
Replacement Motoplats are expensive if you can find a working unit.
Penton Imports has the PVL, but it has no lighting coil and costs $300. I'm not aware of other ignition systems that are applicable.

Thanks Chris,
do these guys have web sites. I have always thought my bike to be a 1973 - some pictures of my project are at: http://www.geocities.com/kcinc1/PENTONIGNITION.html?984374820730
