Title: plating
Post by: cardojr on March 06, 2004, 05:18:05 PM
hi-I'm still puttsing on my 68 berkshire and am getting ready to send some stuff out for plating. The only chrome i need is the top fork nut, the pipe bracket, heat shield and the shock lowers.
a couple of items are questionable (see below)
steering stem brg nut - nickel plate?
rear brake assy-includes pedal/rod/act arm/misc hardware-zinc?
front and rear brake arms-zinc?
special nuts at hubs?-nickel?
misc wheel spacers -zinc?
rear sprocket bushings-? (pt #59--plate 11 in the book)
footpeg brackets & pegs-paint or plate?
anything else i may have missed

Of course,i'll check with Al (in Al we trust) for price and availability before peeing away too much of the green
Any input from you resto guys is appreciated. This bike will be ridden but not raced. thanks in advance-rob

Rob;  Sounds like you have it all pretty well figured out.  The swing arm bolt should be zinc or cad, also the foot pegs and the holders should be zinc or cad.   You are right to check with Al before having these done.   I know my cad guy doesn't charge much for a whole lot of parts if they are ready to go into the tanks.
Good luck and have fun.
