Title: berkshire color
Post by: Mick Milakovic on March 11, 2004, 07:19:17 AM
I'm doing a project I call a Pentonda:  a '78 XL-100 with a Penton seat cover and Berkshire tank color.  Two questions:

1)  What is a good color match for the tank?
2)  What is the color of the '72-74 sticker (letter B)on page 25 of the new parts  catalog?

The color can be from a spray can as I don't plan on using a compressor for the job.  Thanks a lot!

Mick,
Do you have any Do-it Centers in your area?  I found a good match for Berkshire red in their store.  It is Do-it Best Premium Enamel.  Color is Gloss Red #789891.  For $3.59 a can, you can't beat it.

Hey Mick, I came across a really good magazine article which provides comprehensive info on how to get good results with rattle cans.  If you want a copy, e-mail me your address & I'll mail it to you.  Basically, the article says to use LACQUER rather than enamel, to assure a good results and durability.  Go to the auto parts store and check out the Dupli-Color selection.  Lotsa lacquer colors to choose from.

Thanks all, this project will take a little time, but I'll be happy to haul it around to events and post some pictures!
