Title: Jackpiner carb settings
Post by: penton117 on April 25, 2001, 07:12:19 PM
Greetings fellow poggers. Does someone recall the original settings for a 1973 175 carb? I just assembled mine w/ a new Bing type 84 and need to know the correct main jet, needle position, idle jet size, etc. Before someone writes that "these sizes all depend on altitude, weather, phase of the moon. etc." I realize that. I just need the original sizes and settings for a base to start from. Thanks guys.

At the time Penton recommended these settings when using a foam filter :

Main Jet #150 to #155
Pilot Jet #35
Needle Jet #280
Needle Position #2 ( middle )
Slide #1
Needle #1
Atomizer #40-404
Air Adjustment Screw approx. 1 - 1 1/2 turns

These specs came from the Keeping Track Magazine and were what Penton recommended as of March 1, 1974. The settings are for a 30 mm Bing fitted to a 175.

Thanks Bob. Now if my 'Piner is slow we'll have to blame the rider!
