To Randy, Dan, Dennis, Jaimey, Teddy and Dave:

It was great finally meeting you all yesterday!  One thing was for sure:  the Penton gang had the best looking bikes!

The picture that we took of the Penton guys at the end, is someone going to post it?

I was absolutely pooped after the second CC but excited that I was able to run two of them back to back (20 minutes break!!!) and finish four laps in both. There were 30 Vintage and 32 Post Vintage entries and everybody did either 3 or 4 laps or DNF. The course was about 6 miles long and VERY rough. I felt strong until about three quarters of the way through the third lap of the second cross country. In the fourth lap I drove more conservatively because I was unable to control the bike very well which I attributed to the fact that I was tired. But it turned out, the real reason was I had a flat front tire!!! I kept streching my arms and hands all the way home and I have four blisters on my hands. My legs were OK but my knees started to hurt in the fourth lap of the last CC. I went to bed early last night and feel great today except for the blisters!!! New gloves are in order I guess. I came in 3rd out of six in the 50+ PV CC and 1st out of one in the 60+ Vintage CC. They were supposed to have a +60 PV CC this year, but it didn't happen. I feel good that I am competitive with the "young" 50 year olds. I did win both the PV and Vintage +60 motos on Saturday.

Hopefully Dave will chime in with a full report of the Penton onslaught of Marion. Dennis Jones's bike was too beautiful to race, but he did. I followed him in the parade lap, he rode beautifully, picking lines to minimize work and maximize speed and safety. The only disappointing thing of the weekend, other than the MX track was way too tight, was that no one would play soccer. I tried to get up a small 3 vs 3 game to no avail. Everybodies excuse had something about conserving energy for the Cross Country??? Rik Smits claimed he didn't want to play in sandles. I tell you, the lame duck excuses people use today.

What a great weekend! It was nice to meet some of you in person for the first time and always good to see old friends. Teddy is an ironman, I want to be just like him when I grow up. See you all at Casey.

Teddy,
I sent my picture to the "Contact Penton Owners Group" link on the homepage, hoping it would get posted on the "Whose Who"? page.  Is that Bill and Karen?  Randy, did you send yours in?
