Title: Inner Clutch Basket Holder
Post by: vmx1963 on June 12, 2004, 05:21:52 AM
G'day Mates,

I've spent the afternoon trying to get the right torque on the clutch basket nut but without the special tool to hold the inner basket.  Has anyone got a nifty technique for doing this - I've thought about using an old clutch plate with vice grips but I don't have a spare plate to chew up.

Thanks in advance for your pearls of wisdom :)

Can you fashion a Strap wrench from some nylon webbing....wrap it around the inner basket and secure etc.  I have an old strap wrench supplied by an industrial out-fitter, works great.....Tom

I use two old clutch metal plates with a handle welded between them.  The handle is placed between the KS shaft and shift shaft.  Then you can do anything you want to that nut as the clutch will not move!
