Ugh...side pull or top pull? Anyway, wasn't there a few photos in one of the Keeping Tracks about "race prepping" for longevity...Kent Knudson??? Adios, headed to the shop....

I bought some gereric side pull throttle and cable assy. for about $20, way cheaper than a whirlpull or Motion (Ithought). The cable that came with it didn't fit and needed shortening, now its a "one-of", no spare. I've put it on anyway, it works but is so glaring next to the rest of my fine Penton 250, that I really think the original Magura throttle is more disirable. BTW, not all of us have access to old "Still or Keeping tracks" so I like to see it online too. Proper cable mounting is important to function, longevity, and historical correctness. New bike owners manuals typicaly diagram cable, hose and wire routing, could we have it here? You know, I just realized, I don't even have a choke cable to route too (someone elses thread, maybe?:)

Wildman I have a side pull I bought from AL and a new cable from Al also but I think somewhere under the tank I think I am getting a bind. I will check it sometime this week. I was hopong someone had a "TRICK" way on this carb cable. I killed the choke cable and plugged it off at the carb. Thanks Friend

I just remembered, not a "trick",but a common error is to put the carb top on backwards. Not only can it bind, but you won't get full throttle. I know no one would make this rookie mistake but me, but its worth checking. Also make sure there's a little space from the throttle grip and handlebar, we used to put a nickle on the end of the bar so the rubber grip wouldn't drag. Some fanatics saftywire the cable to the carb top and throttle end so it can't be janked out. Hope you find whats binding you up;). Dan Pagel
