Title: Deck heights
Post by: tomale on June 28, 2004, 12:22:28 PM
I am putting the 400 back together and am a bit puzzled. not how to measure but what meausment to use. Depending on what official specs you use it could vary between 1mm and 1.6mm. on one spec sheet it gives two, one for the Gs and one for the MC. for the Gs it is 1.5 and for the MC it is 1.0 mm. These last figures come from a pamphlet dated Jan. 78'
Why would there be such a difference? Any Ideas?

Thom

Less deck heigth raises compression and gives a port timing with a little more hit which is why the MXer is 1 and the GS 1.6.

Thanks Larry,
That is what i needed to know. I set the deck height at 1.5 because the bike is has plenty of power and because I do need to replace the rings but will have to wait for awhile. It is not really bad but it is something I will need to do before too long.
