Title: 72 Jackpiner frame & 76KTM 125cc
Post by: brzyrd1 on May 24, 2001, 10:08:57 AM
Has anyone tried to mate up a 125cc KTM engine, vintage '76', to a 1972 Jackpiner frame? Will it bolt in and will the exhaust brackets bolt up?

Breezy;
The KTM engine used a different bolt mounting pattern than the Sachs, but anything is possible with a lot of modifications.  Question is why would you want to do this anyway?   The 72 used a 32mm fork and was not a frame breather.

Doug,

He wants to put a 76 KTM 125 motor in a 72 Jackpiner with KTM motor.  That will work I think both being KTM motors.

I agree on the why however.  KTM 125 motor was a slug as far as 125 power in that day.  I am not sure how well they enduroed but they did not MX well and were cannon fodder to the quick-light oriental tiddlers(125).  Also the high breather aspect and if restore is the goal the 72 kickstands are hard to come by.
