Title: Storm prep - Southern neighbors
Post by: swamp fox on September 03, 2004, 07:21:06 AM
Hope all our Southern Pentonites and families are prepared for Hurricane Francis. This thing brings back memories of Hugo in '89 for us in Charleston. [B)] God speed and good luck.

John lives in Lake City, Fl.  I believe they lost all power and telecommunications Sunday night.  From what I understand the property damage in their area was limited to roofs and such.

John works for a power company, so he's probably very busy, plus without internet.  I tried to call him yesterday and couldn't get through.

Update, of sorts....

Still getting nothing but an immediate busy signal when trying to call JD.

Here's hoping that Ivan takes it easy on everyone in the sunshine state.

Roger that TC.
You may get a bunch of rain in the upstate from Ivan, and now Jeanne looks to be lickin' up the coast. It wouldn't be so bad if it were one a month, but this one a week is really getting old.:(I can't get back to piddling with the bikes because the shipping lines are diverting ships here when we would normally have a little time between them. Two days off in two weeks is not enough[xx(] Oh well, off to another 12-18hr day at the port.

Thanks Steve,
I've been thinking of you in this mess also. Coastal living has its perks, but this year has been wet & wild. I don't know whether to have the trailer packed with all my bikes and parts that I've found lately, or just lay it all out in the garage. I have let my boss, the wife, know that she has some space in the trailer to chunk some of her stuff in there if we have to skee-daddle.:D I've got an aunt that lives in Wilmington that I need to visit. Maybe I can plan that and look you up. Take care of yourself up there, and we'll keep in touch.
