Title: Mint 400 The race not the bike
Post by: t20sl on September 10, 2004, 09:08:09 AM
Just ran across an article in the June 1972 Popular Cycling about the 1972 Mint 400 race.  10th overall was won on a Penton 125 with Bob Davidson/Danny Davis riding.  Pretty impressive on a 125 against a field of 400 and 250's.  They were top 125cc class.  Names like Rolf Tibblin, J.N. Roberts, Malcolm Smith and Larry Berquist were just some in the top 10.

Ted,
Look in your magazines and you will see that a DKW (Sachs Powered 125) use to consistantly place in the top five and sometimes win the desert races.  It was ridden by a young man named Tommy Brooks.  He had a brother who was just as fast Cordis Brooks.  Just food for thought.  Going to visit Steve Wise today and look for some Pentons.
