Bobby or whoever could explain: I don't understand this. Perhaps someone could explain. Why is this coming through administartion and how are the pics connected to the POG website? Can any seller do this and if so how?
Larry
I have a question on the frame number. How is it a 74 with the frame number it has? I thought it would be a 73.

Sorry for the confusion on the post.I could not get the pics to post and I asked them to post them for me.
I thought the bike was a 74 since it was made October 73.My mistake I just wanted someone in POG to have it.I am sorry if I have upset anyone I will get the post removed as soon as possible.

Hello Lew, the year model change over date for Pentons was in September. My Jackpiner has a frame date of Sept. 72 but is titled as a 73 bike. Thats my understanding of how Penton did the build dates. Crash Carden GO TEAM PENTON!
Bobby,
What is the big deal. Don't remove it. You followed the rules.

Crash,
Not meant to offend, but the titles on Pentons mean nothing in relation to the year of bike. In the 60's and early 70's dealers liked to title bikes in the year that they were sold so banks would think the buyer was getting the current year models. That was brought to a halt by the Federal Government in the 70's requiring Manufactures to make a bike a certain year model and sell it as such. That still didn't affect Pentons because they were not manufactured as street legal motorcycles.
I have a '68 titled as a '69 and I think a '68 titled as a '71. In your case you are really fortunite to have a good title on a Penton. Just my take.
Respectfully,
Ron Carbaugh
This did not make me mad. I just wondered why it went through administration and how it was done. I was also curious if any of us had a bike for sale if administration would post them like this. If that is the case then it would be a nice tool for those of us that are not so computer literate. I am assuming since Bobby went the right route this is possible for all. I just wanted to know how to make it happen and figured others would too. Thanks for the explanation.
Ron
If there are rules to this site I am not aware of them. Please point me in the right direction as I may not be doing it right.:)
Larry
Also technically Bobby's bike is a 74. This has been gone through a jillion times, but once again: KTM went on vacation or break in August and traditionally the bikes made from September on are the next year model. There were some exceptions. Like Ron said, though, back in "The Day" many dealers in many states were able to title leftover bikes as the next year model if they were not sold till then. There were much looser standards then compared to now.
Larry
Larry,
OK on the subject of rules which you and I have always followed:). I may have used that BIG word loosly. But the fact that Bill Smith had stated sometime back if anyone wanted pictures posted they would do what they could to assist people like you and me that don't have either have a web sites or servers to form a hyper link or post a picture. The comment as I remember it (with my memory we are all on shaky ground)? Actually almost everyone can start a web site for free with their current server. I am going to play with a project.
Next Larry I am going to develop rules on how to properly pass on the race track and I am going to filming in Texas with some of the old guys that always followed the rules[B)][:o)].

Ron
Thanks for the clarification. I missed or forgot Bill said that. I will try to take advantage of that tool in the future.
Now on rules in Motocross. Seems like I remember that there was always one rule in motocross back in "The Day" but everyone forgot it. Now as far as the rules of passing you told the story to my gal two years ago at Mid-Ohio that how I came to be known in Texas as King of the Holeshot was from my method of cheating the rubberband start. So if I am out front to begin with why do I need to know the rules of passing?:D
You know I never knew that anybody knew the real reason I wore the big duckbill on my helmet till you told her that story. Enjoy the Texas day with your bride buddy!
Ahh how I miss the ole rubber band starts[:p]. Not that I ever had a advantage. Those were long bills on those visers. I always told people that I used them to dodge mud and rocks[:I]. Have a good day Larry and congratulations on starting riding again. I hope to see you at Tulsa.
