I have found a rolling chassis with the frame #v3179. How can I tell what year this is?

Looks like that is a 1970 year model!

Hello Guy and welcome to PENTON LAND! The frame # info is all listed under "Production Years" on the home page of this website. Just click on it and you will find all the info on the Penton frame & engine numbers from 1968 to 1977,it is a nice guide with lots of info. Also there are a lot of great photos of Penton's & KTM listed under "Links" on the home page as well.
