Great weather, great trails, great history, great stories, great ride, HUGE success! Each year just keeps getting better on this. If you did not make it you must do so in the future. Next year it is back in Arkansas. Many POG members won Gold including myself(hey I am proud of it even if I did win it on a Yamaha). Perhaps Ted Landers can supply us with a list of POG winners though all that attended were winners with smiles.
The ISDTR is one of the few places you can meet many of the great riders that made the ISDT the great event that it was and some of the riders that are making the ISDE the event that will be remembered in future years. It is one of the few places you can hear the stories of past years and see the emotions from men that forever link them as brothers in time to an event. It is where you can hear Tommy McDermit our first Gold medalist tell of his memories and in the same evening hear Jeff Fredette who is close to half Tommy's age tell of his and see the sparkle they share in their eyes. It is truely amazing and tugs at the heart of even the hard of heart. The ISDTR is a place you can talk to John Penton and Dick Mann and get the feel of the sacrifice they made in making the ISDT important to American riders and now to build on those memories with the ISDTR. It is where you will hear of the great motorcycle accomplishments of its namesake Leroy Winters and how he and Dick Mann took the dream of preserving the feel of the ISDT with a meager start of 30 riders to this weekends over 200 riders. It is one of the few places that you will see tears of emotion in great mens eyes like Dave Mungenast and John Penton when they speak fondly of their lost friend and riding companion-Leroy Winters. It is one of the very few places you can go through all of the motions of the ISDT. It is there you will learn the terms Parc Ferme, special test, terrain test, and more. The ISDTR is a place if you do it within 10 percent of the best you will take home a Gold Medal. No matter the color of your medal it is a place you will build new frindships and future memories of your own.
In short the ISDTR is a place that YOU should be.

Larry,
Well spoken and I will add that we had around 40 POG members at this event. This is HUGE since we had members from the Great Northwest, the Greater New England area represented as well as South Africa. This is a long drive(flight) for these people and I wish to thank them for the show of force in representing the POG, but most importantly the true friendship and love for motorcycling.
I was able to put more faces with names and and it was wonderful to see John P, Dane, Dave Mungenast, Al Born, Doug Wilford and others of the "Old Guard". What a weekend to remember.
Also to throw in a Personal Deposit I made to the "Best of the Best Memories of my Racing Life". I was able to meet and visit with one of my Heros, John Zink, dating back to my listening to the Indianapolis 500 on the Radio(yes there was a time when the Indy was not on TV). John Zink operated personally the Zink Racing Team for over 3 decades and won nearly ever form of racing on this planet. What a Great Weekend.[^]

Hi All,
Just wanted to say thanks to all the POG members for attending and participated in making this years' event such a hugh success. The Tulsa Trail riders certainly appreciate your effort in making the trip to Tulsa and hope everyone had a memorable time not only out on the trails but the banquet as well. Also wanted to thank all who purchased shirts, hats, programs, etc and took part in the silent auction for the 1994 ISDE memorabilia as this helped raise a tidy sum toward our Scipio Off Road Riding Area Project. I also wanted to say a very special thanks to John Penton for his generous donation to our club at the banquet Saturday night. This will be a memorable ride for me in several ways. This was actually my first race abourd a Penton even though I now own 4 of them. Secondly and most important in my mind, I got to ride for the first time in 25 years with my brother and we did it in style about a couple of Steeltank Pentons. Thirdly, not only did I get to race a Penton for the very first time, but I was able to get John to sign the tank of my Steeltanker at the first checkpoint on Sunday. All I can say is what a great machine !! Bike performed very well all weekend and started first kick each and every time including cold on the start both days. Hope I can do it again real soon !! Once again, a very big thanks to all the POG members and keep up the great work !!

Have to agree with the above posts as this was a fantastic weekend! Got to ride some great trails, place names with faces, who could ask for more? Vern and the TTR M/C did a wonderful job and deserve many thanks. It was sure nice to be back at the Zink Ranch after a 10 year absence!:D
Having been to "The Ranch" about a half dozen times, including the '94 ISDT, I have to say that this was by far the most fun. Having the opportunity to trail boss with Paul Rodden, was by far the most fun I've ever had there. I only wish I hadn't tweaked my shoulder at the beginning of the second lap on Saturday. All was not lost though. I loaned my bike to a friend who had made the trip with us and broke his bike on Saturday. At least one of us got to ride both days.
Anyway, thanks a million to the TTR and Jack Zink for a great, fun event.
Dane
Thanks to Dave Mc & all TTR for a great time. Even though I had bike problems on Day 1, it was still great to meet up with all my friends from POG.
Another true story, from behind the scenes. Seems while I was on my journey at the Zink ranch, I became separated with my M.Smith tool pouch, so firmly attached to my Beloved Penton, in my haste, and a few doughnuts in the mud, we became separated.....Now you and I would know what a difference it means to loose a part of something that inspired one to get there in the first place....I am in honor of Ron Carbaugh, who,in his devotion, set out on the trail in search of my lost part...This is a true story....
And yet, in my departure, I was once again re-united with a piece of history. Perhaps a little luck came my way.....
There are many personal stories from this Renunion Ride, each of which revolve around your relationship with your motorcycle...
Ride with pride is what we did......
I hope to do it again someday
Thanks for your time......
Thanks Tom for the nice words, but you did a great job on the trail and it was my pleasure finally meeting you. You have done a big job to help the restoration of many bikes with your parts. I am really happy to know that the tool bag turned up. Next year wrap it in orange plastic[:o)]so we can spot it easier.

I hope Doug Wilford is recuperating OK...he took a tumble and a handlebar in the ribs Sunday and was in a bit of pain when I saw him. Doesn't make much difference pain-wise if the ribs are just bruised or are broken...been there, done that...but best wishes Doug and I hope it's nothing serious.
Great to see so many POG members there and get to put a few more names to faces, and as someone's already pointed out, hanging around with the "old guard" is always a treat.
Paul Danik, I know you were on a well-deserved vacation, but you missed a great weekend. See ya next year!
Jeff DeBell
Jeff, Vern and all those that helped. It was truly a great event and as close to perfect as any of these ISDTRRs have been. I was acutely reminded first hand that all the riders are concerned for there fellow rider, and what a wonderful careing group (family) of people these dirt riders really are. The first fall down (which did the damage, 3 broke ribs) at least five riders stopped and helped me get going again, they picked up the bike and started it and waited till I got on, then I sent them away. Later, I stopped for a stalled rider and when the bike started to fall over I couldn't stop it (to much pain) I then decided it was time to head back to the barn. I was truly dissapointed and mad at myself for falling and that I wouldn't be able to finish and ride the MX test. Fred you are going to have to be there next year so we can do battle on the MX track.
Doug
Sorry to hear about the ribs, hopefully it won't take too long to heal. Take care and see you later.
Rocket
Doug,
I hope the recovery goes quickly. Ribs are no fun.
It was great to see you, Dot, and CoCo again. I feel like I didn't get to spend near enough time visiting with everyone because there were just so many people to see and visit with.
I'm looking forward to seeing you guys for the Spring ride, and hopefully finally being able to ride again myself instead of driving the gas truck!
Take care my friend and heal up.
Tony
Doug,
Good to see you again. Sorry to hear about your injury, I hope your recuperation is a short one.
On a different note, my bike ran extremely well and the transmission was spot on all weekend. Thanks again.
