Title: Swingarm swap
Post by: Lew Mayer on November 15, 2004, 10:01:15 PM
Does anybody know if a swingarm with the needle bearings will fit on an older bike(73) with the rubber bushings?

Lew,
Is it a Sachs engine bike or KTM?

Lew,

This I know....any Penton that had a KTM engine, the swingarms are interchangeable.

I can't recall at the moment how they match up with the Sachs model bikes. But that would'nt work anyway because of the Sachs engine bracket.

No, it's my Jackpiner. I just thought the needle bearing swingarms might work better and I'll just run the shocks in the short position.
Sounds like it'll work. Thanks for the help ya'll.

Lew ,
I think you will have a clearance problem with the newer swing arm.
The upsweep of the axle slots should make the tire  hit the rear frame rail and fender. Does the 73 Jackpiner swing arm use the same Part # rubber style bushes as the 100/125 bikes?

Yeah,John, the rubber bushing part nos. are the same for the 125 and 175. I would probably have to find an early needle bearing swingarm, not the upswept one. It's a like-to-do not a have-to-do.
