Title: Rear shocks for 73 125 6 Day wanted
Post by: sdm on December 05, 2004, 02:26:47 PM
Well I changed my mind and have decided to keep my 73 125 and
fix it up. It is in too good a shape to sell and who knows I just
may decide to race it. Anyhow I am going to need a few things for
it and thought I would check here first. It definitely needs a new
pair of rear shocks so I was wondering if anyone has a good set
that are serviceable that they would be willing to sell for a
reasonable price. I was thinking about 13.25s or so...
Let me know what you have..
Thanks

glad to hear your going to keep it. I would recommend a new set of Progressives. $200 and well worth it on your body. Money well spent. If you get an old set you will still have to rebuild them more than likely.

Sam,
Glad to hear you are keeping the 125! It is a very nice bike. I would have loved to have it in my garage, but I'm waist deep in steel tanker stuff presently. I agree with Bill, Progressive shocks are the way to go. They work nearly as well as Works Performance at half of the cost.

I recommend highly WORKS PERFORMANCE shocks. I would tell them that you weigh about 25lbs more than you really do. They seem to come a bit under sprung. All you do then is reduce preload. I love mine. Feels like at least 6" of travel although they are a legal 4". I used 13.5" shocks.
Tell them I sent ya.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I think I have found a set of
Works so I will go with those for now. Also  I can send them in  and get them set up for me if I need to.
Bill how's it going? It was 2 above here yesterday morning. Time
to get this project moving forward as it is too cold and icy to ride.
Trying to stay warm...
I also need to go through the forks, change the seals and flush it
all. I'll have all winter..

Clay I understand about being waist deep in other projects too so
no sweat here.. I would probably be kicking myself if I sold it anyhow.
Thanks
 Sam

Sam,  Try Cosmo Motors, they has NOS Cerianis for less than $100 ($50 at Mid Ohio) or try Al Buehner, he has Girling copies that work great for general purpose riding.
