Title: Which tank is correct?
Post by: penton117 on June 25, 2001, 07:27:38 PM
Hello fellow Poggers,

I need a little guidance. (maybe alot) I have a 1974 125 six day. I know it is a 74 based on the frame #, the frame box section under the tank, and the 35mm forks. What I can't clarify is which tank is correct? It has a big 'slab-side' tank, but all 1974's I have seen have the smaller MX tank. Did they come both ways in '74 and if so, is it still correct if I change tanks, meaning if I change to the MX tank would other things need to be changed also to keep it correct? One last thing, were the original tank decals (on the big tank) one solid rectangle or were they individual letters? This may all seem kinda obsessive, but hey if you are gonna do it, do it right, no?

Hi, saw you bike at Glen Helen.  From what I understand they came with either tank.  The large tank was on the enduro and the smaller GP tank was for MX.

Get that frame painted and you'll get your $1,400 or more for it.

If you're dropping the old tank, I'll consider picking it up. Is it green? Plastic? Leather strap holding it on? Lemme know....
