Title: Shimming mainshaft on Sachs 6b engine
Post by: pentonpal on January 16, 2005, 10:48:50 AM
Gents,

I am fitting some undamaged cases to the internals of another Sachs 6b engine and have some confusion on shimming the main shaft.  The Clymer manual on Sachs engines states "Appropriate shims must be fitted to the clutch side of the main shaft . . ." while the Penton Sports Motorcycle manual states ". . . shimming washers placed on the mainsshaft shoulder" (under the inner race).

Unless I am really confused, these two scenarios seem like they place shims on opposite sides of the main shaft.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,  Scott
