Title: Sachs con rods
Post by: dkwkid on February 17, 2005, 05:04:13 PM
I have two Sachs B motors that have non-standard connecting rods in them.I was told they were KTM rods. They are I beam type with a much wider big end bearing. In fact, the crank halves are back cut inside so the wider rod will clearance. Both motors are in running bikes so I cannot get part #s off the parts.I do know they are not Sachs parts.
I know this has been asked before but has anyone ever blown a big end bearing in a Sachs motor.I ran some pretty loose rods a few years ago and never had a problem.

Glenn,
I have never blown a rod, but I was always very careful not to let water, mud or any type of sand/dirt get into the engine.  Not to say I haven't bought bikes with blown rod bearings and broken rods...what a waste of a fine engine. I love my Pentons..all past and present.[^]
