Title: Front hub and spoke question
Post by: Mick Milakovic on February 25, 2005, 09:00:00 AM
Hi All,
I'm converting my '75 front hub to the newer '76 model with the reinforced bearing area.  Last night I noticed a difference in the spoke hole design.  The '75 holes alternate their beveled holes so that one spoke enters from the inside, the next one from the outside.  The '76 are all beveled from the outside.  I experimented by alternating them, but the spoke angle is then wrong.  Do all the spokes on the '76 style hub enter from the outside?  I took pictures of the wheel before disassembley, so I don't think I'll have any problems lining up the wheel, but the bevels on the hubs have me a little confused (as usual) [:I]

I will take a picture of my 76' ft wheel tonight and email you. I can't remember which way they thread from but I do remember the spoke ends def do not sit flush with the hub. Its struck me as a bit odd they were not countersunk.
