Title: crankcase halves

Do crankcase halves have to be a matched set or can a cases from different matching motors be put together? If thay have to be a matched set are there any markings that would verify that cases are from one motor? Thanks, Glenn

They are a matched set and I believe on the KTM motors the last few digits of the serial number is on each case.  I believe the Sachs has a number matching system also, but not as familiar with it.

The Sachs cases have numbers stamped below the bottom rear engine mount, both halves should have the same number.
