It's been real tough finding that slide for Jackpiners. The ones Bing sells now aren't quite the same where the throttle screw goes. I lucked out and found one at Mid-Ohio last year. I may be able to scrounge a used one if it would help.

Thanks Lew I may take you up on that. The slide I'm using in my current JP is well worn, but the bike runs fine with that, smily face and all !!
Does anyone know if the carb slide has a  part  number stamped on it.??
Or " what  the part number of the slide is  "  ??
 Thanks
raymond

Raymond,
You can get the part # from Bing. Send them a note with the #'s on you carb.
One off some other bike might work if you can cross the Bing # to the bike makers part #.
I had the name of a man in the north west.
He made new slides for a Triumph 750's Amal's we working on in the mid 90's. I can look for it if you like. He might be a viable supplier for new slides for the model Bing's we have. The ones he sent me were Stainless. They should last for years made like that.

If no luck on the used 30mm Bing slide, I use the new ones that Bing International sells and they work great.  No idle opening but you can correct that , if you need it, with the thumb screw on the throttle or adjust it on the cable.

Ray,....
Guys,...what I am missing a lot on you people is the fact that you need something,...but you dont give proper informations.I have a lot of BING spares, but I need to know all the numbers and letters on your carb.On the bottom of the slide is usely a number stampt in.Is it a slide with a secondary shoke slide. Can you maybe provide a picture?
You talk about a AMAL carb but you ask for a BING slide.[:o)]

Speedy,
We will look on the 30 mm that came on Peters 175 and give you those #'s someone else will have to help with the 250 and 400 slides.

Thanks Speedy, you have mail.
From the information I've acclimated,  My books show for the 72-73 Jp as having a Amal carb, which are marginal, to say the least.
The later model JP's show a Lectron carb.   Maybe this is why theres few of these Model 84 Bing carbs around.

Hello Raymond.
If your slide has a 35 mm diameter,..I have only NEW ones in stock but without choke opening.
Can you check diameter?
Cheers,Speedy=------>>>>>>

Speedy, Raymond
 I found peters stock Bing.
 Its a type 84 ,  2/30/102 30mm
The slide measure's in diameter 1.336 to 1.338 inches ( in different spots) . Thats 34 mm I think Speedy?
The # on the bottom of the slide is 2
 Needle is a #1
So you need a type 84 30 mm Bing Raymond and the intake manifold that matches the Bing Carb.
Peter wont part with his chuckle chuckle. He kept an eye on me while  I measured it. He was looking at me with suspicious and distrustful eyes! :D  He wants to keep it so he can go back stock later if the need arises.
Raymond did that help any?
