Title: Penton on e-bay
Post by: Jim A on February 19, 2006, 09:27:52 PM
Hello Poggers,
Been lurking for some time. Just curious, anyone seen
the red tank Penton on evilbay? Supposedly a '69/'70
125. Weren't the red tankers the 100cc Berkshire only?
Was the sunburst Sachs engine produced in those years?
I'm not bidding, I don't do e-bay, just curious as a
former 100cc class rider back in the day. May get a
Berkshire someday, always wanted one back then.

I have bid on it. It is close enough I could go get it if I won. It will probably sell for more than I want to pay though. It is a Berkshire 100.

This bike has a 70 or 71 frame. I don't know the VIN number, but the extra bracket off the rear part of the frame that the pipe is attached to indicates it's a 70 or 71. The tank and seat are 69. The 70 and 71 had the longer seat and the 70 71 tank had holes for the enduro bag to attach and the logo on the tank was different. And yes, the 70 and 71 came with aluminum cylinders. The 68 - 69 were cast iron

Spencer,
Based on either of those frame numbers, it is a 1970.

Thanks for the info Donny, even as a casual observer the picture
did not match the description. I could tell the seat didn't match.
It does have a nice looking down pipe with stinger though.

Hi Jim,
I have V2438 and V2478 and both are 125s with the short seat. My rider is titled a 1970 and has a steel seat pan and the other has an aluminum one. I wonder when the change in seat length occured.
