Title: Rim Restoration
Post by: SoCal996 on March 10, 2006, 12:18:06 AM
Hello,

Wonding if anyone has ever tried to restore DID alloy rims. Would like to remove small nicks and scratches and bring back to original look, in other words, not polished?

Any help appreciated.

Brian,
I did this back in the 70's.  I first sanded out all the nicks and gashes.  Next I blasted the rim with Very Very fine sugar sand(like powder).  They looked good for an original look, but I can't remember how well they held up.  At the time I got some original stickers from DID since they supplied Honda with rims at the time.  I hope this helps.

Thanks Ron. There are for a trials/pit bike, so not real concerned about how they hold up.
