Title: Clutch Cable Question
Post by: KJDonovan on March 11, 2006, 07:18:04 PM
I just purchased a new clutch cable (Terry Cable PN 54-02-090-000) and was attempting to install it on my 72 Jack Piner and noticed that the threaded hole in the case half for routing the cable through is much larger than the threaded end of the cable.  Does anyone know if there was originally a bushing here or is it possible that the cable is just the wrong one?

Thanks,

KD

Hi Kevin,
Your cable is OK.
The adjuster on your cable isn't for screwing into the cases. It's for adjustment of the cable. The double nuts on the adjuster will hold it from changing adjustment. The tension on the clutch will hold the cable in place.
Slip the cable adjuster through the hole, then install the barrel over the cable end & the clutch activator.

Thanks Randy, I feel better now, I thought I had lost something (a bushing) while I was tearing things down.
