There is a Penton frame on eBay that has a frame number of 607 91765 that only appears to have one position for the upper shock mount. I thought the 76 would have the dual position upper shock mounting like the '75. I am assuming from the frame number that this is a July 76 frame for a 250-400, but it does not have the GS type backbone, or a 550 MC5 frame number. It looks just like my early (311) 74 Harescrambler frame. Can anyone shed some light on the frame application. Your right, that frame is not like any 75'-76' frame I have ever seen. A correct frame in those years for 175, 250 & 400 would have the layed down shock position. It looks like a 74 era frame or....a frame to a 1976 125. I have one of those in my shop. I will check the frame number for you. Based on the round look to the frame loops under the engine area that's my guess. Take a look at my frame pictures and compare:

I have the frame in question for sale on E-Bay. As a matter of fact I think I bought it from OUCWBOY, although it's been at least a year since I bought it, I could be wrong. If I remember right it came from California. If someone can verify this is a 125 frame I'll change the listing. Sorry for the confusion.
I am sure Donny will reply but I remember him listing a 1976 125 KTM frame last year. I think thats it.
I thought that the 76 125 came with a MC5 syle frame, which included a KTM motor?

I did sell a 76 KTM frame for the 125 last year or longer. It was a GS 6 125 that I parted out. I don't recall if this is the exact frame or not, but the 125's for KTM that I have seen didn't have the multi position shock mount on the GS, but in 77 they all used the MC5 style frame.
Don't know if this helps or not, but is sure looks to me like a GS 125 frame. I did sell some MC5 frames too.

Thanks everyone for clearing this up before I made a big Oops! I am trying to build 250's from 74-80 and maybe eventually a 73 and I don't have any 125's. By the way Chakka, your chassis is looking very nice! Did you rebuild the Marzocchi's yourself, or send them off. I have been watching a set on eBay for my 75 HS project or my 78 MC5. Mike

Thanks for the compliments. That bike has been in the works for well over a year now. Several of the pieces were vary hard to locate, the pipe being the main culprit. "Rocket" Rod Gorzny rebuilt the Marzocchis' on that bike and the Jackpiner that I am restoring. He does fantastic work. When I pulled the freshly rebuilt shocks for my 175 out of the package I was blown away! If you need them rebuilt contact Rod.
