Title: Full Floating Rear Brake Rod Question
Post by: 454MRW on March 27, 2006, 02:34:12 PM
In 1979 KTM moved the brake anchor rod on their MC models to a rear frame mount, thus creating a full floating rear brake designed for improved rear brake control over varying terrain. My question is this; Would adding a mount bracket to the rear of a pre-79 frame and utilizing the full floating type brake be prohibited by vintage or even post vintage rules. It could always be switched back to a swingarm mounted anchor rod if not allowed in certain classes. Thanks for your opinions, Mike

Title: Full Floating Rear Brake Rod Question

Michael,
I'm no expert but I can't imagine a floating rear brake being a legality problem. Husqvarna has had a floating rear brake since at least 1966.
