Title: Cylinder Sleeves
Post by: OUCWBOY on April 07, 2006, 09:17:04 PM
Back over a year ago, I had 24 "D" cylinder sleeves reproduced and have since sold them all. I have had a few inquires from folks needing to re-sleeve their cylinders, but I am out. I spoke with the manufacturer today and he can pop out more for me if there is an interest. The cost is less per sleeve if I order 24. If I order only 12 the cost almost doubles. How may of you would be interested in purchasing a sleeve or a sleeve with a std piston as a set?

Not to mention the other greats from Oklahoma: Freddie Nix, Gary Nixon, Mike Lewis, and on the other sports side, Mickey Mantle and Johnny Bench, just to name a few.

I think there are some of the Rod Kits that Marc Biro had done still floating around somewhere. Might send Marc an e-mail.

I E mailed you direct, but from the looks of this post, there is definately a market for motor parts in general. And as long as people are building motors and more bikes are being rebuilt the market should be there. Not a get rich, quick plan but a steady one.

Ric,
Yes, Just match up the ports and you'd be close to the Famous GS Pro porting.
Got a call back today from the sleeve maker and am sad to say that the price has increased a ton, plus was told they are behind over 12 weeks. I am now looking for another source to make these up. I do have the master, so that's not a problem.

Donny,
Keep us informed.  Also, I don't know if ARHMA is ever going to understand that some people would like to have a 100 class??  You might ask how many sleeves you could sell for the 100cc Sachs.  I probably have some specs that I would be happy to share if you ever feel there is enough interest.  Any interest out there???

BR,
Your're right. I thought about the 100 cc issue because not too long ago there were a few folks asking about 100 cc top ends. Any interest??

Donny,
I know it is a long shot trying to sell enough 100 sleeves to make it feasible to make up a order, but if you make up an order put me down for 2 sleeves.  Thanks for all the effort...both time and money.

I know that you said there would be a price increase, ballpark how much, or will it depend on who does them??
Title: Cylinder Sleeves
Post by: OUCWBOY on April 14, 2006, 06:11:18 PM
If I order them from my guy in CA, it will be 3 or 4 months to get them and the price will be about 135 bucks. I am trying to get another manufacturer to give me a quote and a timeline. Could be cheaper and faster, but I do know the quality of work from my past order in CA.

Placed the order for the 125 sleeves. Price of steel has gone up, but after shopping around, got the best deal I could find. Shipment to me is out about 5 or 6 weeks. They can also do the 100 sleeves if there is a demand for them. I have to order 25 at a time to keep the cost from reaching over $150 each. Tight now it looks like about $115 to $125 each. I'll post here when the sleeves arrive.
Thanks all.

Tom,
Let me talk to Brother Ron and see if we can't come up with someting in about a 75 mm bore. That should make up for your lack of speed.

Donny,

Thanks for mentioning my name regarding the SACHS rod kits. However, I only have about 12 kits left, and I need them for future motor rebuilds. Of course with a couple of projects I have brewing, and NOS parts getting harder to locate, trading is not out of the question!

Thanks

forgive my ignorance, are these 125 sleeves? will they work for my 6a? do they come with specs or installation instructions? we are severely machine shop challenged in yuma, az. and need all the info we can get, so we can reduce the chance that they'll botch the job, but no guarantee :(

I got my two and have already had one installed and I want to thank you for going to all the trouble and expense to have these reproduced.  I would urge anyone who is going to be building Pentons into the future to have one or two of these sleeves for future use.  Thanks again Donny for making these avaliable.
