Title: 1981 KTM 250
Post by: Jonathan on July 10, 2006, 10:38:05 PM
I am in need of an exhaust for a 1981 KTM 250.  This is apparently a hard part to find since it is between the Penton's and the KTM's!  Can anyone help or lead me in any direction?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Jonathan,

Welcome to the POG site. Try Kevin at Circle F Exhaust. His number is 713-467-1488. The website is //www.circlefexhaust.com

Michael Winter was nice enough to lend Kevin a pipe to copy. I'm right now modifying one of these pipes and silencer to fit a '74 250 Penton. I hope to have it done by Mid-Ohio.

And just to make it more interesting...
They may be really rare, since there may have a been a manufacturing issue. Mine had to be replaced under warranty because it split at the seam under the tank.
Didn't have very good power either, that way!
Oh, and make sure your exhaust gasket is  not hanging in the port. Mine was off big time and didn't help the power either. It ran like a 125 until I discovered that!

Jonsthan,

A guy on this site http://www.ktm495.mxbikes.com/has some 1980 & 1981 parts he wants to trade.

Look for this topic -   1980-1981 PARTS FOR TRADE (9 replies)  VINTEVO

He may be willing to sell to you instead of trading for KTM Duke parts.

Good luck.

Tony

If you want to really open up the H.P. use a pipe from a 400! It really helps and it bolts right on with little mods!
