Is the 1976/76 MC5 swingarm the same as the 1978? Since the only difference in the two frames is the location of the upper shock mount, I figured the positioning of the lower shock mount on the swingarm would also be different so that they could stay with the standard 13.5" shock length. Does anyone know???

Ted,
I am fairly sure they are different. I think the mounting of shock and swing arm is different. I believe the rear case is a tiny bit different to accomadate the swingarm mounting differences. That is what memory tells me.

Thanks Larry,
I called a couple of our POGGER gurus and they confirmed they are different. The bad news is, I thought I was just looking for a swingarm, it turns out the frame I was going to get is a 1978. So now I am still looking for a 1976/77 frame and swingarm. Anyone bringing one to Mid Ohio to sell?
Teddy
I have an orange MC5 swingarm, which I would assume would be for a 78 that I could bring if you decide to use the 78 frame. Mike

Thanks Mike, but I need to stay with the silver 76/77 MC5 frame/swingarm.

Ted, I have a 77 frame but no swing arm. I bought this frame with a swing arm but my stock one had been bent so I took the 77 swing arm and put it on my 76, yes the demensions are the same but the 77 has a few things added that are nice. like a rub block over the pivot and the bolts that hold the lower shock mounts in place use a bolt only. the 76 uses a bolt and nut....You can have the frame if you wish.... I have my stock swing arm but it will need some repair. email me if you are interested..
